Albania has a variety of attractions on all levels, in all areas. Here below you see a list of cities, sites, nature parks, etc. of the sights I visited while travelling in the country. These are divided into an introduction, highlights, history and other (general) information such as transportation, accommodation options and sometimes information about tours you can take.

Berat

Ironically, Berat is one of the most beautiful and best preserved cities in Albania, because the  Communist government has planned this. The old town is an amalgamation of three different neighborhoods full of Ottoman houses with white roofs built against the rocks.

"We are now walking where once was the old market square (Agora / Forum) could be found. We see the Roman bathhouse and walk further to the next site where the the old gymnasium buidling was situated which is asummingly also used as a pagan site".

The city with the thousand stairs is a maze of small streets with antique cobbled streets where you can wander around and enjoy the beautiful old 19th century houses where the city is so famous.

"The boat trip through the Drina valley should take two hours and sometimes goes through very narrow cliffs. You barely see any other boats on the river but also very small amounts of fish, birds or other animals here. We see in the distance the fog in the high mountains with lot os greenery”. Tirana is the capital and by far the largest and most important city in Albania. Highlights are the presidential palace, but also remains of the Ottoman, Italian and communist past of the city.
